This competition is for gymnasts who have not yet competed in other external competitions. In this case, it was a first time experience for practically everyone in the room, the gymnasts, the parents, the helpers and all the officials. The exceptions being the head coaches of both venues Beckington and Street Area Gymnastics and the four floor judges who had come galloping in to join our home grown vault judges to judge the gymnasts for us. We simply could not have run this competition without them!
Each gymnast received a certificate with their scores for floor, vault and their combined score on it. The gymnasts with the first, second, and third highest scoring combined scores, in each year group, also received the traditional Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

So, here are the podium gymnasts with their medals. On the left Year 1 and below Year 2.

This is the Year 3 section with two added year 2 gymnasts competing and medalling at the same level!

This is the Year 4

Great to have the
Year 5 Beckington boys and Year 6 Girls

The competition was run in two separate rounds to make enough space for everyone.
However, at the end of the competition the combined scores of all the gymnasts competing from each venue were added together and then divided by the number of competitors competing from that venue to work out the average combined score for each venue. This meant that every competitor's score counted towards winning the Mike Ellington Trophy.
This year the trophy went to Street Area Gymnastics by the narrowest of margins.

Street Area Gymnastics 16.356: Beckington 16.095 This 0.26 difference equates to a small penalty e.g. not quite pointed toes in a cartwheel!
